Patrick was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. While earning his finance degree from UNC Charlotte, he began working with Tom Fenig, a pioneer in outdoor lighting. During college, Patrick designed over 500 outdoor lighting systems for Tom’s company.
Upon graduating in 2001, Patrick bought an outdoor lighting franchise from Tom’s company and moved to Northern Virginia. During his 10 years with the franchise, Patrick helped design four products for two of their manufacturers.
After fulfilling his franchise obligations, in 2011, Patrick left the franchise world to start his own LED lighting company, Enlightened Lighting. Patrick has designed and installed lighting systems in over 5,000 homes throughout his career, and is one of the very few Virginia Class A contractors specializing in landscape lighting.
Patrick along with Damien Sanchez and Josh Palmer founded Sterling Lighting, a manufacturer of custom LED fixtures. Patrick has been involved with every aspect of designing the full product line, which includes 9 patents and an additional 9 patents pending.
Patrick married Laura in 2005 and they have two children, Benjamin and Abigail, plus an American Mastif and bearded dragon lizard.
Patrick has over 20 years in the lighting industry and finds that his passion and excitement to show people the beauty in light is as strong as ever. He served on the Board of Directors for The International Landscape Lighting Institute (illi) and is a current member of illi, the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals (AOLP).
